Merging translations

I've been informed that there is another translation effort going on at here:

http://tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Fate/Hollow_Ataraxia

After a brief discussion with delta, we have decided to merge our efforts for a quicker result.

Thank you all for your continuing support and please give the new project your support!

School!

Sorry, guys, but I don't think I can update for about a month. I am entering the final stretch of this academic semester, and the workload is overbearing.

But do not worry, I'll be back with a fresh plan of attack to get this project done.

Requesting help on translating!

Hello, guys, I've been talking with delta, and we decided that I need some help on translating the sequel with school kicking my butt and all.

We're still thinking about how to manage dividing and compiling the workload, but I'm sure we will come up with a solution soon.

Please reply here if you would like to help.

Thank you very much, everyone, and thank you for your support!

Monthly Update #2

Hello, guys. Sorry for the lack of updates. School started, and I got sick not too long after that.

Yes, this project is taking a lot more time than I expected, and to get it to you guys in any reasonable amount of time, I am rethinking my strategy. I'm going to try to talk with delta about possible solutions.

I really do wish I could get the patch out to you guys in as short amount of time as possible, but so many things are keeping me away from the project.

I'm hoping to have another update sooner than later with the frequency in-between the updates shorter.

Thanks a lot for cheering me on!

Monthly Update #1

Hello, everyone, and my apologies for the lack of updates.

It seems like there really isn't too many interesting things for me to report on a week-to-week basis, so I've changed the weekly updates to monthly updates.

These past few weeks I've been stuck on some rather serious very plot-heavy scenes that are, frankly, not too pleasant to translate, so I have been just chipping away at them bit by bit.

I know many of you are eagerly anticipating the release, and that's actually another reason why I'm reluctant to post numbers: every time I do post them, I feel like I haven't put in enough effort into translating since last time. I hope you will understand.

Thank you all for your continuing support!

Semi-weekly update #12

Sorry for the month's absence! I got tied up a little bit by this new job I got for over the summer, and possibly into the school year.

Since I don't have much to say about the progress currently, I'll try to answer some questions.

As of now the numbers for the translation stand about the same as they did when I last posted them, but there are several large files that are currently being translated.

Perhaps I should state how I translate again:
The whole game's script is broken down into many hundreds of files. I go in and randomly open a few, and choose the ones that interest me at the moment, or feel like I should translate and get out of the way and move the files to another folder which contains all the files that I have started translating but have not finished. When I refer to files that are currently being translated, I'm referring to the files in this specific folder.

Also, I am working with delta, the coder on this project. I translate the files and then send them off to him in batches, at which point he can start inserting them back into the game.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll be more than willing to answer them.

Weekly Update #11

Sorry for the lack of updates last week.

I've been working fairly constantly on the scenes mentioned in my previous post, but it doesn't feel like I've made too much progress on any of them. I somewhat blame the "fluffy" nature of the scenes (by fluffy I mean that they have a lot of character interaction without much development, in both story or character personality.)

I also maybe sholud change the weekly updates to be bi-monthly, as that's what I seem to be doing. I would like to update more frequently, but I fear my posts will get boring, as I can't discuss too much of the scenes I'm translating without them being spoilers.

Weekly Update #10

Summer vacation has started for me, and although it's been less than two weeks now, it feels like two months, and a lot has happened in this short, yet long period of time for me.

Anyway, during the time I've been chipping away at a few scenes, two of which are very story-relevant and hefty in size. It's interesting that they happen to be one of the introductory and one of the ending scenes, and both concern Bazette heavily. I suppose there really isn't too much to write about these scenes without giving away tons of spoilers.

More updates soon, hopefully, and with more interesting content... hopefully.

Weekly Update #9

I'm back, and my finals are over. Thank you all for wishing me good luck on them. I think I did well on all of them.

Summer break is here for me, so I can devote a constant amount of time each day to translating. I have high hopes of getting the project completed in the not-too-distant future.

As I thought I couldn't devote a lot of time into translation the past two weeks, but I have touched a few scenes, one of which goes into the premises behind the whole story.

I hope to update more frequently and with more substance for at least the next three months.

Weekly Udpate #8: Or the lack of.

Sorry, guys, this and next week is finals week for me as well as possibly a the earlier half of the following week.
I am translating a bit here and there when I get tired of schoolwork, but there probably won't be any significant progress in the next week or so.
I'm just dropping by to let you guys know that I am still alive.

Weekly Update #7

Hello again, everyone. Here with a new update.
Finally finished up that relationship script. It turned out to be quite enjoyable later on with some slight twists, but I'll let you all enjoy that when the patch gets released.

A lot of people have been asking for some numbers, and so here they are again:
1.91MB completely translated with 311KB being currently worked on, and there is 2.70MB left.
I try not to post these numbers since I personally feel like they are not a truly accurate portrayal of the progress I'm making.

Also, thanks to all those who are offering help, but I would like to keep the translation to myself to keep a thorough consistency throughout the whole game. I do know that it could maybe be a bit faster should I delegate some scenes to others, but that would also make incongruencies within the scripts. It's hard enough trying to keep the spelling, terminology and voices for each of the character the same even alone by myself, and I can't imagine what it would be like if there were many others translating at the same time.

Weekly Update #6

I finally got my new laptop, and it seems pretty good. The main thing I was concerned about was portability, and it has met my expectations, so I should be able to put in more time inbetween classes for translation.

I've been jumping all over scenes and haven't come across any one that is remarkable enough to be written about here. Oh, and I'm still fighting vigirously with that Issei-Mitsuzuri relationship scene, but I have made some progress on that also.

The first half of next week seems to be hectic for me, but I should have some free time in the latter half.
Oh, and I appreciate your thoughts and input in the comments page. Please feel free to tell me what you want to see in the entries and whatnot.

Weekly Update #5

Well, after wrestling pretty hard with that long scene about Issei and Mitsuzuri's possible dating, I've given up trying to finish it in one go. Instead I've been jumping from scene to scene, translating whatever my mouse pointer lands on first. This keeps me from burning out. I'm waiting to get some more transalted so that I can send a decent-sized batch to delta for editing and inserting. I'll see if I can get some new screenshots.

Weekly Update #4

Well, this scene involving Mitsuzuri and Ryudou's possible relationship is taking way longer than I thought it would. Even after spending few hours on it I'm only halfway through. Unfortunately last week I could not translate at all: school threw a lot more work at me than I expected. I have been more steadily translating now that I'm enjoying my spring break, however. Also I ordered a new laptop which should be more portable than the one I currently have. This should help in translating on the go when I have some free time between classes and whatnot.

Weekly Update #3

Well, since some people would like to know the percentage, I will post some numbers.
Here are the file sizes regarding the translation, but please bear in mind that they are a very rough estimate since there are many coding and not actual script included in the file sizes.
Currently I have completely translated 1.36mb. There is 368kb being translated right now with 3.13mb to go. I cannot gauge my weekly progress, but the last batch I sent to delta measured in at 313kb, majority of which I worked on throughout last week, and I hope to get another batch of everything that's being currently translated to him before the weekend is over. It's a bit of a farfetched goal, however. I have to say that my hopes and confidence get higher the more I translate.
Next week is the week before spring break for me, which means I have at least two tests, so there might not be too much translation work done next week, but I'll devote a lot of time to translating once the week of spring break comes.

SPOILERS
The scene that I am working on right now as I type this post involves Emiya's visit to a track and field team's meeting. I gotta say that I didn't find this scene too interesting when I played through the game initially. I am almost done with the scene, but nothing significant or funny has happened yet.
Next I'm going to tackle my largest scene yet involving Emiya and track and field Trio (Makidera, Yukika and Himuro)'s speculation of possible romance between Issei and Ayako. I've gotten some headyway into it, and it seems like a promising scene in terms of comedic content and character development.

Weekly Update #2

It's been a busy week with exams and projects due, but the long scene involving the group's overnight stay at Ryudou Temple is translated.

I realized that I've worked on only this scene whenever I got to translating for the past week or so. Usually, however, I jump from scene to scene to keep myself from getting tired of the scene and burning out. Maybe starting this blog has instilled more resopnsibility in me that subconsciously made me translate more methodically. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working for me, so I'll resume my jumping from scene to scene and translating whichever file I end up opening first. Currently I'm working on a few small files and one file that's even bigger than the one I just finished translating. Thankfully the large file seems to be a comical scene also, which is always welcome.
Come to think of it, I haven't seen too many serious scenes yet, although I've been random in my selection of files to translate. One advantage and disadvantage of Kagetsu Tohya was that the whole script was a single file; I didn't have the flexibilty of jumping from scene to scene, but I also didn't have to worry about which scene to translate next.

Weekly update

Word got around to delta, and we're back in contact.
Thank you all very much!

As for the translation update and tidbit I'm working on the largest "chunk" of file that I've come across until now. After this there seems to be one chunk that's even larger and a few of around the same size, not to mention the smaller files which constitute the majority of the script.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****
The scene involves the whole gang going into an overnight stay at Issei's temple for cultural festival preparations.
A whole scene ensues around the temple's tatami mats which are new and praised by the group. And another encounter between Rider and Ayako happens, which is always ludicrous.
*****SPOILER END*****

I don't know how many hours Kagetsu Tohya took me to translate, but I remember working on it fairly constantly. I'm going to try to set up a regimen where I devote a specified amount of time each day or possibly week to translating. I hope to get the translation out as quickly as possible to the readers, but there is also school which takes up a signifcant part of my time. I'll try my best to keep a constant and adequate progress.

I still haven't really thought about what to write in these updates, and I'm more than welcome to suggestions.

Looking for delta!

Delta, if you're reading this, please e-mail me at amukunau@gmail.com.

Introductory post

Welcome all to my blog.

I'm Amukunau from Beast's Lair.

I'm currently working on translating Fate/Hollow Ataraxia into English. I have previously worked on translating the main story of Kagetsu Tohya.

I created this blog to use it as a sort of motivation for finishing the translation sooner so that people can enjoy it.

I'll try updating the blog at least once a week with progress on the translation.
